Dolomites Unplugged, week 27

Program for uge 27, 2011:

The program for week 27 is relatively ambitious and the most challenging program, we have offered to our clients so far. It contains all the highest and the most famous Italian ascents!

Passo dello Stelvio is the second highest pass in Europe with its 2.758 meters. It has 48 hairpin bends, a constant gradient of 8-9%, thin air and beautiful scenery (Ortler 3.905 m, the highest mountain in the Eastern Alps) in a bare, raw environment.

Legendary Passo di Gavia is the sixth highest mountain pass in Europe with 2.620 meters. It is somewhat easier to climb from the Bormio side but has one of the best descents in the Italian Alps vs. Ponte di Legno. Passo di Rombo (Timmelsjoch), is the 10th highest mountain pass in Europe with 2.509 meters. Also on the program is the cruel Passo di Fedaia (2.047 m) which takes us to the Marmolada (3.343 m), the highest mountain in the Dolomites. It is short, but has this nasty piece of 4 km with no turns and average gradient of 11-12%. The other passes are all very beautiful and all together constitutes the best possible and one of the most challenging itineraries in the Dolomites and Ortles!
