In Pursuit of Giro d'Italia here.
The Dolomites Unplugged, week 31 here.
25/11-08: The program for The Dolomites Unplugged 2009, week 31 (last week of July) and 35 (last week of August) is now ready to rumble!!! We have planned two exiting itineraries with super challenging rides in both the inhospitable Ortles Group and the world famous Central Dolomites. Both weeks will include Europe's 2nd and 6th highest passes: Legendary Passo dello Stelvio and Passo di Gavia whose scalps belong on every serious riders mantelpiece! Only one pass will be a repeat from 2007, the much enchanted Passo delle Erbe! The rest you can read here.
22/11-09: Our Easter trip: In Pursuit of Giro d'Italia 2009 is now completed. We'll take you for six medium difficult, extraordinarily beautiful and historically interesting rides in the surrounding mountains of the Garda Lake, Lombardia and Trentino. Also we are going to explore the world famous wine-district Valpolicella combined with some authentic wine-tasting (Amarone, Ripasso and Recioto).
5/11-08: "MTB-SAFARI": Finally, we have finished the programming of our latest cycling experience: A MTB-Safari tour around the Brenta Dolomites! The ultimate MTB experience within and around the best preserved Italian national park is now mapped and tested! We are honored to present this extraordinary experience to those of you who have always dreamt of riding in deserted, untouched and grandiose surroundings above tree-level, in between raw and snow covered peaks, glaciers, waterfalls and wild bears (no kidding!) on the brink of ones physical limits and in the closest proximity to nature! MTB-Safari takes place in week 23 (1st week of June) 2009. The further description is not yet translated to English. Contact Bike Italien for more info.
5/11-08: The program for Nove Colli and the Garda Lake, week 21 is now ready (but not yet translated in English). We'll do 5-6 beautiful rides (one hotel) in the dramatic mountains of the Garda Lake, Lombardia and Trentino before we'll head down to Cesenatico for the biggest and most legendary Granfondo Nove Colli - Marco Pantani in Italy. During the training camp we'll be riding in three groups with differentiated level of difficulty. Contact Bike Italien for more info.
15/8-08: The Dolomites Unplugged, week 31 and 32, 2008 exceeded all expectations! Sunshine from a clear sky, perfect temperatures, almost no rain and 100% execution of the daily rides gave the participants the unforgettable biking experience they had hoped for! The Ortles group, the Brenta and the central Dolomites left us with unforgettable images, not to mention Austria and the castle Neuschwanstein, Sanctuary Pietralba, Lake of Fedaia etc.
31/5: The training week: Nove Colli and the Dolomites offered world class rides with gorgeous scenery! Moreover, the Granfondo Nove Colli was just as hard and magnificent as predicted! 11.000 participants, 210 km and 3.800 hm with just one hour of rain, 9 challenging ascents with inclines up to 18% made the Granfondo an experience for life!
3/4-08: The first edition of the cycling week: In Pursuit of Giro d'Italia, week 12, turned out to be a great success and was blessed with the best possible weather! Michael Rasmussen took us through the hilly Valpolicella to the World Championship-trail 2004! Check out the photos and read about the week here.
Reactions to: The Dolomites Unplugged!
Week 31: "A successful, different cycling week with lots of great experiences, which more than exceeded my expectations! The week was really great and I truly relaxed - not least thanks to your efforts! I enjoyed the full day trips, the challenges in the Dolomites and the feeling to be on holiday and on "tour", not a race or just transfer between hotels!" Peter Bjørn, Roskilde, July 2008.
Week 31: "Altogether, I must say that it was a tour which almost in every aspect exceeded my expectations... a super trip! Also the price was reasonable: We got all our money worth, and the quality was excellent! The daily distances were just perfect and the legendary climbs were as grandiose as promised... here of course, I'm referring to Timmelsjoch, Passo di Gavia and Passo dello Stelvio. Fantastic ascents in spectacular nature with all the luck we could hope for in terms of sunshine!" Jesper Kirketerp, DK-Søborg, July 2008
Week 31: "An absolutely beautiful tour in good company, fantastic nature and good food every night!" Asbjørn Grovling, Norway, July 2008.
Week 32: Spontaneous comment during one of the rides: "...you know what I don't like about this... NOTHING!!!" Jeff Saunders, Boston, august 2008.
Reactions to: The Dolomites - Rough and Sweet (2007)
"One of the most memorable times of my life!" Bill Andersen, New York
"Magnificent and breath taking views of the peaks and descents and at times hellish climbs across the Dolomite passes that we endured!... Great trip in general with challenging Cat. 1 and 2 climbs and beautiful scenery with fabulous, almost endless descents. Well organized and attention to those who needed individual care and needs." Paul Lebonitte, New York
"Absolutely and truly fantastic... your trip really gave me a kick... the vacation exceeded all my expectations!" Søren Pedersen, Denmark
"I was very satisfied with the course of events during the week. All included, a great experience!" Bjarke Andersen, Denmark
The biking week "The Dolomites - Rough and Sweet" - was nothing less than a success! Led by the former World Champion Maurizio Fondriest, the eleven American and three Danish participants rode more than 675 km with 11.500 altitude meters among the most fascinating Dolomites! We finished the cycling week with Granfondo Colnago in the Apennine Range, which proved to be a tough race in an incredible beautiful and hilly landscape.
We also tasted wine in a family owned wine cellar in Valpolicella and had an extraordinary experience in the 2000 year old and world renowned Arena listening to Verdi's opera Nabucco in Romeo and Juliet's city of Verona. Watch the photos in the Photo Gallery, check out the altitude curves of the stages and read the diaries here.
